June 9th was a travel day, starting with an 8am bus back to the ferry that we rode in on going to
Ærø, then another bus ride and a short ferry ride and another bus ride, finally stopping in Helsingør. Here we viewed Kronborg Castle (sometimes called Hamlet's Castle) in the distance while touring the museum and surrounding areas. We also had a close-up with "Han", the silver statue with blinking eyes that's been nicknamed "the Little Merman" because of its reinterpretation of the iconic "Little Mermaid" statue. Helsingør has modernized their no-longer-used warehouses and created places that serve the community: a library, a shipyard museum, an art-tech center, and a cafe where we had lunch. It’s the size of a football field with food stands all around the walls and a hodgepodge of tables, chairs, and seating arrangements in the middle.
Another short ferry ride to Helsingborg plus a longer bus ride finally landed us in Varberg. We met our tour guide for a short walking tour then dinner with some of our tour mates. On a different path, Rodney met up with an old friend, Oscar, and they spent the evening catching up. Varberg was sort of a stopover on our way to the next adventure in
Oslo, Norway
