Karen and Rodney met up in Chicago on May 30th then flew to Helsinki. Arriving mid-afternoon May 31st we Uber'ed to a EuroHostel to check in. Then walked down to market square, had some ice cream, then boarded a tram four a tour around town. Then more walking and photos as we headed back to the hostel. Thanks to jet lag, we got up early the next morning, headed back to market square and watched as vendors et up tents and prepared for the day. After a light breakfast on the city square we went to Helsinki Cathedral and were given a quick tour by Roy, a guide who relocated there from Chicago. Heading down to the port we bought tickets for the Stromma Canal Boat Ride, then encountered a group of men on the square getting out band instruments. They provided a free concert, ending with "Anchors Aweigh". After the boat ride around the bay, we rode on a Hop On Hop Off bus, had some pizza for lunch, and took the tram back to the hostel to get our luggage. We then took a taxi to the port to catch the ferry to Tallinn, Estonia for more touring fun.
