We arrived in St. Paul nearly on time but something kept us sitting on the tracks for over an hour. Elaine Swanson, our tour guide for the day, was waiting for us in the beautifully refurbished Union Depot.
Karen and Rodney went to “the falls,” while Elaine and Theresa sat in the car and got caught up.
Elaine took us to Hope Breakfast and then drove us to our hotel where we got early check in. We dropped off our stuff then she drove us to the Minneapolis side of the Mississippi River so we could see some of the sites Minneapolis is famous for.
The Stone Arch Bridge was built by James J. Hill (the Empire Builder) in 1883 to improve railroad access connecting the wheat fields of Canada to the many flour mills in Minnesota.
After Elaine took us back to our hotel, Theresa had dinner with new friends from her latest cruise and Karen and Rodney went to The Mall of America.
