Day 7 - We bid farewell to Óbidos and headed to Cambria with two stops at important Catholic landmarks.

Mosteiro da Batalha

The Monastery at Batalha was built in the 1400's. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style filled with beautiful windows, intricately carved tombs, statues that span centuries of history, and rich stories. The beautiful “unfinished chapels” might just be an open-air set of seven funerary chapels.

Fátima

Fátima is the home of a chapel, a sanctuary, and a basilica celebrating the miracle of the appearance of Mary, Our Lady of Fátima, to three shepherd children between 13 May and 13 October 1917. Fátima is an important international destination where 6-8 million Catholics make a pilgrimage every year.

One segment of the Berlin Wall is enshrined in Fátima.

Pope John Paul II visited the place of pilgrimage and blessed the Wall segment during his visit.
